You have put effort into your dating and Tinder, but your results are frustratingly bad. No matches, no dates, nothing.

You’ve watched your friends and enemies alike walk away with the girl you fancied, just for you to wander home drunk, alone and rejected. Why do girls go for the other guys, not you?

It’s as if you’re invisible in real life. You blend into the crowd of similar guys who are equally bland, timid and single. Girls ignore you all. Or rather, you don’t seem to even register on their guy radar.

If you’re not catching the eyes of cute girls in dating and on Tinder, you’re most likely exactly that, an invisible man. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

There is a way for the cute girls to be checking YOU out on the street, instead of just the other way around. The key to registering on girls’ radar is dressing stylish to stand out or, in other words, be attractive.

Here I’ll give you five simple fundamental principles that will teach you how to increase your attractiveness.

Dating style fundamental principles

Dressing well in a casual setting isn’t something that’s often taught nor do you get suggestions how to do it well. When you do ask for opinions from your male or female friends, you get answers like you look nice. But we don’t want to look just nice, because that is not enough. We want to look above average. In other words, our aim is to look hot and stand out so girls notice us.

Mindset change: Consider your clothes as a full outfit, never as individual pieces

Many men (past me included) look at clothes and think “oh hey, this looks so freaking cool! I’ll wear it with anything until I get bored of it“. This often leads to your outfit looking more of a patchwork quilt rather than a wellthought outfit.

Thus throwing random clothes on is more likely to cause yourself to look like a normal person and drown into a crowd. Some pieces of clothing can make you stand out, but they most likely are not a good outfit if they don’t at the same time make you look hot.

The main thing here is to start considering all of your clothes from shoes to headwear as a coherent whole instead of individual pieces. This way you start noticing, for example, that changing one piece demands rethinking other pieces as well.

Favor slim fit

Given that we want to have a good physique, you should put effort in showing it to the world when you have a chance to do it. For this reason, slim fit and skinny options are the go-to option for especially t-shirts and jeans. For t-shirts, you might want try even smaller sizes than normal to have it hug your body, primarily bicep, as much as possible.

Keep your color and tone count at or below 3

Clothes come in variety of colors and it takes quite a bit of knowledge to know what colors go well together. However, you don’t need to become next guru on color theory to dress well.

In short, colors can be divided into tones i.e. shades of gray with white and black in the extreme ends, and colors other than tones. Men often wear neutral colors i.e. navy blue, beige, military green / olive green the best.

The fundamental principle is to keep the total count of colors and tones in your outfit at three or less. The more comfortable you are experimenting, the more you can go towards doing max three tones and max three colors separately. However, keeping to max three tones or colors is a good baseline that works extremely well.

Men generally look better the less colored their outfit is and, often, darker the tones are. For example, a full black outfit of black t-shirt, black jeans and black boots works surprisingly well for this exact reason, especially for those with lighter skin and hair tones.

Wear 2-4 pieces of accessories

Accessories are the thing that elevate your outfit from good to great, and are a kind of a cheatcode from looking average to above average with a surprisingly small change. The main reason for that is because men typically don’t wear accessories outside of a wedding ring. So when you do, you instantly stand out more than an average man.

As an example, full black outfit for shoes, t-shirt and jeans mention earlier is fairly bland as-is. However, because it is fairly bland by itself, it acts to make your accessories pop out a lot more.

For our example of full black outfit, let’s add rings to our fingers, a necklace with a pendant, a metal bracelet, and a key chain to the outfit. Now you see they pop out from the black making for interesting details and elevating the outfit to above average.

But what counts as an accessory?

Anything that isn’t a part of your base layer (pants, shoes, t-shirt) or outerwear (hoodie, jacket). This essentially leaves you with rings, necklaces and pendants, wrist watches, key chains, beanies, caps, and bracelets to mention a few.

Aim to wear 2-4 groups of accessories always. Because average men wear one ring already, we need at least two pieces to stand out. At the same time, we don’t want look like a christmas tree with too many accessories, so keep the count at max four.

A note on counting the groups of accessories. Say if you wear a ring on both index fingers, that counts as one group of accessories and not as two. Same applies to other categories, so if you double up other accessories such as two necklaces, they count as one for the 2-4 range.

Accessories are something that you can (and should!) play around with, and find things that resonate the most for you. Find necklaces that feel interesting to you, has some meaning to you or just looks cool in your mind. They are meant to be the way you personalize otherwise too similar outfits.

Match your leathers and metals

This is fairly similar to the colors principle in that you want to lower the variance in your outfit. In short, if you use e.g. silver coloured metal like stainless steel, have all your accessories in the same colour scheme and don’t mix a gold accessory there randomly.

Same with leather, which you often have in your belt, shoes and / or jacket, try to match their color as well. In other words, black leather shoes or jacket with black belt, same with brown. The major exception is white leather tennis shoes, like Stan Smiths, which you should pair up with black belt and / or jacket. No need hunt for a white leather belt.
